TRENTON, Jones County —
It’s been a very tough year for bees in Eastern North Carolina.
Bee keepers such as Freddy Carter in Jones County want to raise awareness so more people can help save the bees, which are vital to our own existence. Carter has kept bees for five years and said every year in North Carolina, we lose 40 percent of our bees. This year, weather conditions such as the cold — which makes it hard for them to stay alive — and wet weather — which keeps bees from pollinating and making honey.
